Materials camp is a weeklong, summer residential camp for high school juniors and seniors interested in the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields.
Campers get the chance to utilize the hands-on learning principles of applied math, physics and chemistry. The week features a variety of demonstrations and field trips that actively explore materials science and engineering principles in unique laboratory settings.
In one activity, students work in small groups to investigate the failure of a man-made material to perform its intended function using the failure analysis exploration model.
Best of all, the camp is free of cost. Campers receive housing, meals, tuition, entertainment, and, of course, newfound knowledge, at no cost.
